Shawna L.-Coach

YEAR ON TEAM:

Too many to count...I think this is 25 or 26

LAST TIME I LAUGHED REALLY HARD & ABOUT WHAT:

My 19 month old literally standing in the middle of my glass kitchen table,

trying to hang off the chandelier...I’m not kidding...I have a picture!

CURRENT FAVORITE CELEBRITY:

I’m too old for that. :)

MOST OVERUSED WORD/PHRASE:

“Seriously”...

I wish I could say that I’ve gotten out of this sarcastic habit, but I can’t seem

to break it!

SHAMPOO/CONDITIONER/DEODORANT/PERFUME:

Aveda Pure Abundance volumizing shampoo and conditioner(clearly its not

working because volume is not a word I would use to describe my hair )/Secret clinical strength (I have a nervous sweating problem...and clearly it is not working either!)/

Acqua di Gioia for Perfume.

I WON’T LEAVE THE HOUSE WITHOUT:

My kids and a credit card...I could care less about my cell phone except for safety reasons.

THE BEST FEELING IN THE WORLD:

How can you narrow this down to one thing?

1) Unconditional love, acceptance and understanding...a place to “belong”

2) accomplishing a long sought after goal

3) Clearing everything off of my “To Do List”... but unfortunately this never happens.

4) Oh and without a doubt..big hugs and kisses from my kids.

BEST BEAUTY SECRET:

SLEEP and don’t tan when you’re young cause its not worth the wrinkles later!

MY FAVORITE CURRENT OBSESSION:

On-line shopping...But I wouldn’t recommend it...it’s unhealthy!

1 RUDE THING THAT DRIVES ME CRAZY:

When people talk when they are supposed to be listening...any rudeness in general... and rebelliousness for the sake of being rebellious!

FAVORITE ARTICLE OF CLOTHING THAT I OWN:

Jeans....you can never have too many!

BEST THING ABOUT ME:

My perfectionism

WORST THIING ABOUT ME:

My perfectionism

3 THINGS I ALWAYS NEED IN MY REFRIGERATOR:

Skim milk (for me and Steve) 2% (for Caden) and whole (for Kellan)

Diet Dr. Pepper

salad

ONE THING THAT’S “PERFECT” IN MY LIFE RIGHT NOW:

My family in Summer!

MY LIFE PHILOSOPHY:

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

and

God first, family 2nd, and everything else will fall into place

HIDDEN TALENTS:

If there were such a thing, I could be a professional puffy painter!

THE BEST QUALITY IN A LEADER AND THE WORST:

Best: The best leaders understand that what they DO speaks so much more loudly than what they SAY and also that you can’t force people to follow...they must want to follow because they think you’re going somewhere that they want to go too!

Worst:  Expecting others to do things, follow rules and make sacrifices that you aren’t willing to do/follow yourself.

A SONG I KNOW ALL THE WORDS TO:

You are My Sunshine and “For Good”/”Popular” from Wicked!

MOST EMBARRASSING MOMENT:

Where would I even start?

WHEN MY TROYETTE CAREER IS OVER, I WANT TO BE REMEMBERED FOR:

Giving my all...Letting people see my weaknesses as well as my strengths...being trustworthy...being sacrificial and thinking of others.

BEST PIECE OF ADVICE I WOULD GIVE TO CURRENT/FUTURE TROYETTES:

Buy into the team....LOVE it...LEARN from it...Be PASSIONATE about it!  Take the love you’re offered and give it back.  There is SO MUCH to learn about yourself through this experience.  Even though dance is what brings us together, Troyettes is about so many other, far more important things.  When you realize this and realize all the chances you have to grow, you will never regret the experience.  The concept of TEAMWORK is something, that if you allow it to, can transform your life, FOREVER for the better!

FAVORITE QUOTE:

"Pooh?" Piglet whispered... "Yes, Piglet?" said Pooh

"Nothing, I just wanted to be sure of you" -Winnie the Pooh

Happiness is inward and not outward; and so it does not depend on what we have, but on what we are.  Most of the shadows of life are caused by standing in our own sunshine!

3 ADJECTIVES THAT DESCRIBE ME:

passionate/perfectionistic/sensitive

10 THINGS THAT YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME (or probably do):

1. I find it terrifying to know the year my team member’s were born...not only because the youngest ones were born close to 10 years after I graduated from High school, (yes, high school) but also because I’m officially able to be any one of their mothers.  How did I get that old?

2. It would appear, after reading this year’s profiles that each one of the seniors thinks they are my favorite all-time Troyette...haha...jokes on them. :) Just kidding...I DO love them!

3. I thought I would have all girls...and instead I have 2 boys...But in the end, I think this was God’s way of evening things out for me.  I LOVE my boys!

4. I LOVE rhinestones...no matter how many our costumes arrive with...I add more.

5. I think you get what you give...A sort of karma thing...Things may not always balance out correctly in this life, but sooner or later things catch up with you...in a good way or bad way.

6. I have more clothes than I can really ever possibly wear...I’m strangely happy and ashamed by this all at the same time.

7. I’ve gone to Florida in March, with the Troyettes every year since 1993.  I NEVER get tired of it...Sun, relaxation and time with my favorite girls!

8.  I am a homebody.  I love being home with nothing to do and probably wouldn’t leave my house for days at a time, if real life didn’t require me to.

8. I believe in doing what is right...even when it’s hard.

9. My belly button has never recovered from child birth.  I used to be an “inny” and

now, at best I’m a “flatty”...most days an “outy”.

10. My husband is obsessed with Lance Armstrong and wants to be him...minus the  leaving the mother of your child who stood by you during cancer, and illegal doping thing.
