| SHAWNA-COACH |
| FAMILY: Husband Steve... Son Caden who will be 2 in September! SCHOOL: I graduated from Southwest High School, and have an elementary education degree from the University of WI-Madison. I was on the UW dance team for 3 years and served as captain my last year! YEAR ON SQUAD: This will be my 21st year coaching and choreographing for this amazing group of girls! I was a member of the Troyettes my junior and senior year after moving to Green Bay from Louisiana. FAVORITE QUOTE: "Winning isn't something that happens suddenly on the performance floor when the music starts and the crowds roar. Winning is something that builds physically and mentally EVERY day that you train and EVERY night that you dream" AND "You’ll never know that God is all you need, until God is all you’ve got.” YOUR MOST OVERUSED WORD/PHRASE: without a doubt...."Be quiet!" WHAT MAKES YOU MOST HAPPY? My family....Setting a goal and reaching it...Being organized (which I really never am) WHAT CELEBRITY WOULD YOU MARRY IF YOU HAD THE CHANCE? Hmm...I think I'm pretty much past that. Although I would have married Brett Farvre if he'd asked me! :) Then maybe the Packers would have a Dance team! :) WHAT REALLY ANNOYS YOU? It drives me crazy when people are supposed to be listening and they're talking instead. Like at weddings, when people are offering toasts and nobody's listening. Or at meetings...OR AT PRACTICE!!!!! :) It bugs me because it is so inconsiderate and disrespectful to the person who is talking. YOUR BIGGEST FEAR: Losing someone that I love. YOUR PERFECT DAY: A warm, sunny day when nothing HAS to be done. I can just relax and not feel any pressure or stress. I can spend the day lying around, then take a bubble bath, get dressed up, and go out for a 5 course dinner with everybody I love! :) But of course there would be a babysitter for Caden, so I could actually enjoy my dinner! WORST BAD HABIT: Some part of my body has to be moving at all times....generally it's my feet! & At practice I say, "fiiiiivveeeee......five, six......five, six, sevvveeeen..." before I actually start counting. Of course if everybody was just ready to start right away, I wouldn't have to do this :) THE MOST ADVENTUROUS THING YOU'VE EVER DONE: Worked with teenagers for 21 years! THE LAST MOVIE YOU SAW: Winnie the Pooh....How pathetic is that? YOU CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT: My family, my cats, my bathtub, and shopping! LAST COMPLIMENT YOU RECEIVED: I like your sweater, where did you get it? (from Amanda C) LAST COMPLIMENT YOU GAVE: "Good job! That looked MUCH better that time!" (In regards to critiquing our jazz routine) CURRENT THING YOU OUGHT TO BE DOING: Choreographing our pom and kick routines! WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP: I think I'm officially grown up! YOUR MOST MEMORABLE TROYETTE EXPERIENCE OR YOUR MOST EMBARRASING TROYETTE MOMENT: MOST MEMORABLE: I have WAY too many to pick just one...but here are my top ten RECENT ones: 1) Being named "Coach of the Year" and crying with all my girls during the 05/06 season. 2) Watching Caden be so loved, adored and spoiled by the Troyettes 4) Our pink star pom uniforms. Wow, do I love how they turned out! 5) Our state pom performance...the energy, the emotion and the tears of joy...And the knowledge that THIS FEELING is why we dance! 5) Being named State high kick champions! 6) Performing at a Saturday football play-off game! 7) The music "Jump for My love" and the kick routine that went to it....so much energy! 8) Reconfirming how much I still love coaching and still love my team, even when we don't have a perfect year or a "winning" season. 9) Our hotel candle lighting ceremony, and the song "Anyway" by Martina McBride 10) Riding the "Tower of Terror" and the mini-meltdown that proceeded it! MOST EMBARRASING: If I told you, I'd have to be embarrased all over again! :) WHEN MY TROYETTE CAREER IS OVER, I WANT TO BE REMEMBERED FOR: Being a dedicated, loving coach. For being as passionate about our TEAM as I was about winning. For making some sort of impact, small or large, on every single girl who passes through the Troyette program. For being a role model in terms of my personal life and as a leader. ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE TO CURRENT AND FUTURE TROYETTES: 1)You get out of the Troyette experience exactly what you put into it. Don't expect anything more or less. 2) Your attitude will impact your feelings about the team....CHOOSE to focus on everything that is good...there is so much more good than bad. 3) Never take this experience for granted and make sure that you are giving as much as you are taking! 4) Be appreciative of your teammates, your leaders, and your coach, and take the time to notice all that you are blessed with! 5) WORK HARD...you'll never make it if you don't! THREE ADJECTIVES THAT DESCRIBE YOU: 1. loyal 2. enthusiastic 3. passionate |
